Soilite

Soilite is an innovative platform dedicated to assisting both private and public landowners in overcoming critical environmental challenges, including water and soil contamination. Our Active Oxygens soil and groundwater remediation experts treat pollutants and harmful contaminants using proven in situ and ex situ treatment technologies.

In the field of environmental remediation, in situ chemical reduction (ISCR) and enhanced reductive dechlorination (ERD) have emerged as cost-effective strategies for addressing soil and groundwater contamination, particularly from chlorinated solvents and heavy metals.

Our team of remediation professionals specializes in the in situ treatment of groundwater contaminated with chlorinated solvents. We increasingly implement ERD and ISCR-based systems to enhance the likelihood of successful remediation outcomes. The success of these methods significantly improves when utilizing an organic electron donor that is easy to apply, long-lasting, well-distributed, and cost-effective.

Among the latest advancements, ELS® and EHC® Liquid, which are lecithin-based reagents, offer these essential properties. These innovative products present a favorable alternative to traditional electron donors, enabling more efficient remediation processes.

Why Choose ISCR and ERD for Groundwater Remediation?

Improve treatment efficiency with optimal electron donors.

Use of organic reagents to minimize ecological impact.

Reducing remediation costs through long-term solutions.

Suitable for a range of contaminants, including chlorinated solvents and heavy metals.

Applicazioni in situ di tecnologie combinate ISCR ed ERD per il trattamento di falde contaminate da solventi clorurati e metalli pesanti

Product Overview

EHC® Liquid

EHC® Liquid is an in situ chemical reduction (ISCR) product and a liquid variant of EHC®. It was developed specifically for injection via existing wells or hydraulic injection networks for the treatment of a wide range of groundwater contaminants.

EHC® Liquid promotes anaerobic biodegradation and abiotic dechlorination and can thus be used to effectively combat chlorinated solvents, energy sources, pesticides and herbicides.

EHC® Liquid creates strong reducing conditions and promotes both biotic and abiotic dechlorination reactions. EHC® Liquid consists of two components:

EHC® Liquid Reagent Mix, an organo-iron compound, and ELS® Micro, which can be easily combined and diluted for injection.

Key Benefits

  • Stimulation of both abiotic and biotic reductive dechlorination
  • Proven lifespan of 4–5 years under field conditions
  • Combined approach minimizes the production of problematic daughter products, such as DCE and VC
  • ZVI corrosion (alkaline) and fermenting carbon (acidic) are in equilibrium and produce a neutral pH, unlike the two components alone
  • Cold water soluble and easy to handle

ELS® Concentrate

By creating reducing conditions and providing electrons for dechlorinating bacteria, ELS® promotes enhanced reductive dechlorination reactions. This product is specifically designed for the remediation of harmful contaminants, including chlorinated solvents, pesticides, haloalkanes, and chromium.

As the bacteria feed on the carbon, they consume dissolved oxygen and other electron acceptors. This process effectively reduces the redox potential in groundwater, fostering ideal conditions for reductive dechlorination to occur.

ELS® Concentrate is a 100% soluble formula that can be easily mixed with cold water. It can be applied via existing wells, hydraulic injection networks or direct-push technology.

Key Benefits

  • Stimulation of biotic reductive dechlorination
  • Structurally bound nutrients phosphorus and nitrogen are released to bacteria through the fermentation of the lecithin molecule
  • Formation of stable emulsions
  • Easy to handle and cold water soluble
