Peracetic Acid
Our peracetic acid (PAA), also known as peroxyacetic acid, is a liquid mixture of hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid (vinegar). The fundamental way to deliver oxygen, by organic peroxide is present in chemical and industrial processes everywhere we look.

About peracetic acid
Peracetic acid is a versatile oxidizing agent that dissolves easily in water and decomposes into non-toxic by-products. Evonik is one of the leading producers of peracetic acid and has developed a wide offering of high quality products, ranging in concentration from 5% to 40% peracetic acid in equilibrium solution.
The different concentrations are used in chemical synthesis, bleaching, sanitization, disinfection, hygiene and sterilization across a variety of industries, including food and beverage such as fruit and vegetable processing, poultry processing, environmental remediation, industrial cleaning and sanitization, and oil and gas production.

Registration of our peracetic acid as a biocide
PAA formulations are registered for use as a sanitizer, disinfectant and sterilant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as an antimicrobial agent by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) as well as an active substance and biocidal product under the European Biocide Product Directive (BPR).

SPECTRUM® is a chlorine-free antimicrobial agent approved for use at multiple intervention points, including on-line reprocessing (OLR), finishing chillers, chillers, parts, salvage, and other poultry processing waters. The product is a cost-effective, environmentally friendly chemical that breaks down to acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide.
SPECTRUM® can be applied to poultry parts, carcasses, and organs. It meets USDA standards, and reduces contamination of pathogenic bacteria salmonella, campylobacter and E.coli. When used as directed, the product also reduces bacterial contamination that may cause product spoilage. It provides broad-spectrum efficacy, is non-foaming, does not need to be rinsed, generates no dangerous fumes and is non-corrosive to stainless steel at use levels. SPECTRUM® is approved for organic poultry processing and compliant with Russian and Canadian export requirements.
BLITZ® is a peracetic acid-based antimicrobial agent for use in red meat applications. It can be applied directly to red meat carcasses, parts and organs to effectively reduce contamination of pathogenic bacteria, escherichia coli, salmonella typhimurium and listeria monocytogenes as well as other bacteria that may result in product spoilage or decay.
BLITZ® is a chemistry that, when used as directed, offers an economical, low-capital approach to red meat food treatment. It is permitted for use in the processing of organic red meat in accordance with 7 C.F.R. 205.605.
CLARITY® is a single component 15% peracetic acid antimicrobial agent that is EPA-registered and FDA-approved for use as a beverage packaging sterilant. It can be used on food and beverage packaging materials including PET, HDPE and foil, closure systems, and filling equipment in low-acid aseptic, ESL and high-acid aseptic beverage packaging.
CLARITY® has improved stability that allows for a longer shelf life and slower thermal degradation that results in lower usage. When used as directed, it can provide a cost effective solution for the sterilization of beverage packaging.
